International Seminar, For Quality Practices: Application of the British Model to Child and Family Services
Last October 28, the International Seminar For Quality Practices: Application of the British Model to Child and Family Services was held at HEC Montréal. This seminar was organized by the promoters of the AIDES Initiative and gathered thirty-something experts from Quebec and internationally involved in the practice and research of vulnerable children within society. This seminar allowed for a rich exchange and discussion surrounding the different practices of child welfare in different areas of the world, under the lens of Britain’s Assessment Framework. Experts from Quebec and within Canada, Australia, Denmark, France, Ireland, United Kingdom, and Sweden were all present throughout the day. The discussion focused on four themes pertinent to intervening with vulnerable children and their families: the relational approach, participation of the child and adolescent, partnership, and the impact on the child and adolescent. The day proved to be an enriching experience for all of the participants and demonstrated how sharing an international perspective can be of great benefit to understanding and improving practice.
A document summarizing the discussion of October 28 will be available in January 2011.
