In conclusion
Since the nature and extent of needs vary from one child to another and from one family to another, since the factors involved are complex, and since social environments are numerous and complex, the approach proposed by the AIDES initiative encourages concerted action that is appropriate, effective, and timely for children and their families. Such interventions will have the intensity, duration, and continuity necessary to ensure the children’s safety and respond effectively to their needs.
The AIDES initiative seeks the benefit of all stakeholder involved in the project (children, parents, practitioners, organizations) and hopes to:
• Open a space for dialogue with the parents;
• Serve as a lever to encourage and maintain the involvement and participation of the parents and children;
• Encourage the sharing of a common terminology and understanding of the needs of children and their families;
• Make it possible to establish clear and realistic goals to better target priority actions, to define responsibilities, and to specify each person’s contributions;
• Encourage discussion and evaluation of the children’s progress;
• Establish procedures for making needed adjustments rapidly;
• Encourage the involvement and participation of the parents and children.
